Who is Bruce Purdy?
Bruce Purdy became interested in Magic at the age of five, and by seven began studying and practicing the art. At fourteen he began performing professionally at children’s birthday parties, later joining the Society of American Magicians (SAM), and the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM).
In the 1970’s Mr. Purdy toured New York State in a tent show, appearing at carnivals and fairs. In the Air Force, he was a finalist in the “Tops in Blue” worldwide talent contest held in Florida. Since then he has appeared at school assemblies, major shopping malls and Theatres in New York, California, Nevada and throughout the Northwest.
Today, Bruce specializes in helping School groups and other organizations raise money, by producing and presenting a full stage Magic show.
A former president (5 terms) of IBM Ring 74 in Syracuse (The Salt City Magic Club), Bruce also edits, publishes and sometimes writes for the Ring’s magazine “The Wandogram”. In 2003, 2007 and again in 2015 He was awarded the Tony Zalla memorial award for “Contributions to the art of Magic.” In 2011 Bruce was named to the faculty of the The Camelard College of Conjuring of Chemmis.
